Hello, I'm

Ali Vaezi

Reinforcement Learning Researcher Decision-Making Under Uncertainty AI Engineer @ BLUE Engineering MSc @ Politecnico di Torino

Reinforcement learning, optimization, and sequential decisions under uncertainty: working out when a learned policy earns its place next to a solver.

About Me

I am a final-semester MSc student at Politecnico di Torino specializing in Reinforcement Learning, Applied Machine Learning, and Mathematical Optimization, with a BSc in Industrial Engineering from Azad University (SRBIAU) (GPA 3.69/4.0) and 5 years of professional experience as a Business Data Analyst at Parva Co.

My research builds intelligent systems for real-world decision-making under uncertainty, from supplier order allocation with PPO to generalization studies in sim-to-sim transfer. My MSc thesis at TU Eindhoven (Sep 2026 – Feb 2027, ADD-ReAM consortium) studies sequential decisions under partial observability: optimal stopping for returned parts in additive remanufacturing, timing an intervention against a posterior belief rather than a point estimate. I carried out a six-week research internship at TU Eindhoven (29 May – 10 Jul 2026) and now work at BLUE Engineering as an AI Engineer. I am a fast learner who ramps quickly into new technical domains. I have published in the Journal of Cleaner Production (IF 11, 59 citations), have a manuscript under review at the International Journal of Production Economics, and a further manuscript in preparation for Transportation Research Part B.

MSc Thesis

Optimal Stopping for Additive Remanufacturing

Researchers: A. Vaezi

Affiliation: Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) · Industrial Engineering & Innovation Sciences · ADD-ReAM consortium

Status: MSc Thesis | Sep 2026 – Feb 2027

Keywords: Optimal Stopping, Partial Observability, Bayesian Inference, NumPyro, Additive Remanufacturing

Sequential decisions under partial observability for returned parts: when to pay for an additional observation of a latent condition before committing to a remanufacturing pathway (reuse, recycle, conventional, additive manufacturing). The stopping rule acts on a posterior belief rather than a point estimate, with Bayesian inference in NumPyro. Supervisors: Prof. Mehrdad Mohammadi (TU/e), Prof. Lorenzo Bottaccioli (PoliTO).
